Elementary Resources

This for purchase educational resource offers information for students on a variety of topics. Key features of this site include the ability to search by subject and by grade level. Users need to create a login or have a Google account to use this site. The topics have associated games, quizzes, activities, and more to help students learn.

This resource, created by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, is aimed at upper elementary students. This free educational resource is all about energy. It has really good information for students, puzzles (crosswords and word searches), experiments, and quizzes.

DiscoveryKids has 12 different topics that students can explore including science, animals, earth, space, etc. Each topic has quizzes, games, activities, and photographs to aid in student learning. FunBurst media, also known as Funology, has free ideas for biology, physics, chemistry, and weather experiments. These are great for both in-class and at home classrooms. Click  to learn more about Funology.

This resource allows users to look through a variety of math related lessons (divided up by grade level), interactive activities, brain teasers, and more. Click  to learn more about this resource. 


MathGame Time is a free science and math resource for students ranging from PreK to 7th grade. Subjects include: geography, shapes, and time and money. The subjects also have associated games, videos, and worksheets.


Monster Sciences offers a variety of lessons, printables, and experiment ideas for various science topics.


Free resource for student use.  You must have up-to-date version of Java to utilize this tool.


The LearningLab acts as a virtual library of Smithsonian resources for public use. Users can discover new resources, create their own, and share them with a collaborative community. Users have the option of creating a log on for use of this program.


ZoomPBS is an older resource but still has a lot of fun activities for elementary age students. Click on "Activities from the Show" on the Zoom home page to see all of the activity ideas they provide. The subjects highlighted are: chemistry, engineering, the five senses, forces, life science, patterns, sounds, structures, and water.

Middle School Resources

This resource allows users to look through a variety of math related lessons (divided up by grade level), interactive activities, brain teasers, and more. Click  to learn more about this resource. 


As with many others, this resource is both for students and for educators. However, the subjects covered with this resource are limited. Additionally, users must have an up-to-date version of Flash to use this tool. 


This site is geared towards upper middle school chemistry students. The provided link takes you to the educator part of the website which explains the tools they provide. From there you can get to the ' version of the site which is purely games.

This free resource caters to instructors an learns in the computational science field. Educators can explore lessons and discussions on the topics they will be teaching in class. Students can do activities, explore various tools, and look up vocabulary terms that are associated with computational science. 

Rice has created a WebAdventures site geared towards giving students a glimpse of what science careers really look like. They offer various games to bring students through a practical problem of todays world. 


Lots of fun activities to explore on this site as the Smithsonian has a wealth of information. Great topics to explore: Science & Nature, Everything Art, History & Culture, and People & Places. Students can sort leaves by type, conduct flight experiments, learn about time, and much more.

The STEM Collaborative is a set of four online adventures for middle school math students. It is also worth an educators time to check out the 'Additional Resources' tab on their page as this has a plethora of free educational resources for math.

High School Resources

BBC Earth offers educational articles and videos for users to explore. They offer information on topics such as conservation, discoveries, common questions about our planet, and more. This resource is free and requires no account or login. Click  to learn more about this resource.


BBC Science, another free educational resource provided by BBC, provides articles for students to explore a variety of topics. If there is a particular topic a student is looking for information on, it is best to use the search bar on the BBC site to help narrow down the many resources. 

The Concord Consortium works to bring technology into the other aspects of the STEM field: science, engineering, and math.  Users can explore resources in the following subjects: physics and chemistry, life science, engineering, earth and space, and mathematics. If you make an account with this site, you can assign work to your students, allow them to save their work, and more. 

Edheads is geared for online interaction in math and science exploration. There is a small selection of free games available as well as access to other games with the purchase of a membership. The intended grade levels for each game are specified on the home page of each game.


The Exploratorium is a resource provided by the Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception in San Francisco, CA. The exploratorium provides tools for teaching and learning as well activities, blogs, and videos that are useful resources for both students and teachers. There are over 25 topics for users to explore.


This free educational resource was created by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. This website provides a timeline, activities, articles, and more all dealing with the details of vaccines. 


Biointeractive, created by HHMI, has hundreds of free science education resources. Users can browse resources by topic, type, or collections. This website contains resources for both the instructor and the classroom.

This website offers information about the nobel prize, its winners, and their discoveries. The site also has fun games to help students learn about various nobel topics.


National Geographic is a great educational resource as it offers a wealth of information. NatGeo offers resources for both teachers and students to enhance their learning experience.

Professional Resources

This not-for-profit organization aims to create 21st century education systems. They want to insure a lasting impact by means of coherence, capacity, and connections. They also have resources on their site in regards to 21st century learning.

Formerly known as the Tennessee Curriculum Center provides instructional materials for current educators. Their resources pertain to a variety of subject areas and grade levels. 

This resource contains informational articles on the current events of stem education.

This academic journal contains articles pertaining to all areas of stem education.

ORISE has resources for students, educators, scientists, and more. Specifically for educators this website contains: activities, curriculum, mentor tips, etc. 


PLTW is a nonprofit organization that works to empower K-12 Students and Educators. The website contains a multitude of resources, opportunities, and information about their specific stem programs.


This organization aims to improve student achievement by advancements in stem learning. Their programs include both a college readiness program and a military families mission program. 


The NSF, a federal agency, provides funding for student and business science and engineering related research throughout the country. They have numerous funding opportunities which are described in detail on their website.


The NSDF provides an extensive library of resources for students and educators. Resources can be browsed by subject, grade level, standards, etc.


This organization has a primary role in making the importance of stem education known. This non-profit works to exhibit how stem education influences our economy and technological future as a nation.


The TN Department of Education is responsible for the adoption of education standards in the state of Tennessee.


TEL provides free access to articles on over 50 different subjects. They also have resources pertaining to homework, research, test prep, and career tools.


TSEA works to strength skills of science teachers in Tennessee.


TSIN is the network of education centers across Tennessee that aims to promote the teaching and advancement of STEM subjects.

This free resource can be used to make presentations, social media posts, videos, and more. There are for purchase versions of this resource as well.

This free resource can be used to create stunning info graphics, advertisements, and more. Plus they have many different templates to choose from if you don't know where to start.

GoogleDrive is a great way for students and instructors to store their documents, presentations, spreadsheets, calendars, etc. The best part about google drive is that you can access it anywhere you have an internet connection. All you need is a Google account (like gmail).

Kahoot is a game making resource for educators to use. It is a fun way to make the learning material more engaging for students.


This can be used online or through the App. It is a great way to communicate with parents and students without giving them all of your personal information.


An easy to use screen casting tool for showing presentations on your computer or even walking through steps on how to complete an assignment.


Skype is an extremely underutilized resource that can be used for collaborations and learning experiences with classrooms throughout the world.
