The ��Ƶ is among the best universities in the world for graduate employability, a new independent study says.

U of T jumped three spots to place 12^th in the world in the 2019 QS Graduate Employability Rankings, after jumping four spots in last year’s study, from 19^th to 15^th. Once again it was the highest-ranked university in Canada.

As well, U of T placed third among North American public universities and eighth among public universities worldwide.

“We are proud to be recognized once again among the top universities for employability,” says U of T President Meric Gertler. “This result reaffirms the excellence of a ��Ƶ education, which is highly valued by employers around the world.”

The QS Graduate Employability Rankings cover more than 500 universities in its annual report.

London-based Quacquarelli Symonds Limited uses five weighted criteria in the ranking. The reputation of universities among employers counts for the most in the ranking, and is measured by the QS Employer Survey, with more than 30,000 responses. The other indicators are research collaborations with global companies, an analysis of high-achievers' alma maters, the number of employers who have an active presence on campus and the graduate employment rate one year after graduation.

The other Canadian universities in the top 100 are the University of Waterloo (25^th), the University of British Columbia (38), the University of Alberta (87) and McMaster University (93).

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology claimed the No. 1 spot this year, ahead of last year’s top-rated university, Stanford, and current No. 3, the University of California, Los Angeles.

It's another strong result for U of T, which is the highest rated university in Canada and among the best public universities in the world in the five most prestigious international rankings: Times Higher Education, the QS World University Rankings, Shanghai Ranking Consultancy’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, U.S. News Best Global Universities Ranking and the National Taiwan University Ranking.

U of T is the top-ranked Canadian university and 15th in the world in the 2018 QS Graduate Employability Rankings

Globally in-demand graduates, alumni in leadership roles and high levels of engagement with employers are just some of the reasons the ��Ƶ has one of the best graduate employability outcomes in the world, says a new independent study.

U of T is the top-ranked Canadian university and 15^th in the world – up from 19^th last year – in the 2018 QS Graduate Employability Rankings, which surveyed 600 top global universities in its annual report released Tuesday.

The 15^th placement means U of T is among the top three per cent in the 2018 QS Graduate Employability Rankings. Among public universities, the ��Ƶ ranked third in North America (just behind UCLA and UC Berkeley) and 10^th globally.

“Students at the ��Ƶ have the opportunity to learn from some of the top minds in their field and then hone their skills in real-world settings. Undergraduate and graduate students engage in experiential learning opportunities with a variety of university partners, from community agencies to startups to international companies,” said Cheryl Regehr, U of T’s vice-president and provost.

“We’re pleased to see our ranking results continue to demonstrate U of T’s excellent track record for graduate outcomes and employment.”

In compiling this year’s ranking, QS used a methodology to rate each university based on its reputation with employers, alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers per faculty, employer-student connections and graduate employment rate.

Overall, Quacquarelli Symonds Limited considered responses from more than 30,000 employers, mapped the degrees and affiliations of more than 30,000 high-achievers, considered 130,000 employers' connections with graduates and evaluated more than 200,000 work placement partnerships.

In addition to U of T, four other Canadian institutions made the list of the top 100 ranked, including University of Waterloo (24^th), University of British Columbia (35^th), McGill University (42^nd) and University of Alberta (94^th).

Overall, the ��Ƶ continues to be the highest ranked Canadian university and one of the top ranked public universities in the five most prestigious international rankings: Times Higher Education, QS World Rankings, Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, U.S. News Best Global Universities and National Taiwan University.
