Raptors, NFL, Twitter, more to meet with students at Sports Business Association conference
Leaders from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Bloomberg Sports, Nike, UFC and more will be at the Rotman School of Management on 12 March meeting with student fans and those eager to pursue sports business as a career.
The stakes are raised with this third annual conference and career fair, hosted by the ºüÀêÊÓƵ Sports Business Association (UTSB), now in collaboration with the Rotman Sports Business Club:
The program includes top-calibre presenters such as Off the Record host Michael Landsberg, NFL Players Association president Keith Gordon, Twitter Canada executive Debora Silveira, senior administrators and consultants for the Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs, representatives from Nike and Under Armour, as well as U of T experts such as Timothy Chan, Matt Mitchell and Richard Powers.
UTSB president and Bachelor of Commerce student Malcolm Mo spoke with U of T News about this year's event and why it's been designed for sports enthusiasts from any academic background.
What’s new at this year’s conference?
This year, what delegates will notice is the diversity in our speakers. With speakers like Michael Landsberg (Host of Off The Record), Dwayne De Rosario (Striker, Toronto FC), Alex Rucker (Senior Analytics Consultant of the Toronto Raptors) and Keith Gordon (President of NFL Players Inc.) all facets of the sports industry are being represented.
By involving guest speakers from the front office, coaching staff, athletes, as well as the media, we are able to give students a 360-degree look at the sports industry.
