This Week at Austin Peay: Veterans Day celebrations planned for this week

The Military Student Center (MSC) will host its from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, at the William E. & Sadako S. Newton Military Family Resource Center.
MSC also will host from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Caf in the Morgan University Center.
And the Newton Military Family Resource Center will celebrate a ribbon-cutting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10. The celebration will take place at the center, 426 College St. The center is named after the late parents of APSU alumna Wilma Newton (鈥73), who made the generous donation to renovate the facility in 2019.
And a reminder: The university will be closed on Veterans Day in observance of the holiday.
Artist Paul Rucker to deliver artist lecture on Tuesday
鈥淧reserve & Protect鈥 鈥 a new exhibit at The New Gallery in the Art + Design building 鈥 looks at the complex ways in which textiles, particularly garments, relay the resilience of a culture 鈥 worn for protection but also as a way to project one鈥檚 identity. These textiles have the power to preserve but also rewrite cultural history.
Artists in the exhibit include Anangookwe Wolf, Paul Rucker, Winnie van der Rijn, Michael Sylvan Robinson and Stephanie Syjuco.
This week, Rucker will talk about his work at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 via Zoom. Registration for the live-streaming event can be found here at .
This exhibition 鈥 which is co-curated by Michael Dickins, Austin Peay鈥檚 director of galleries, and Erika Diamond, assistant director of CVA galleries at Chautauqua Institution 鈥 also will be open during the next Clarksville First Thursday Art Walk from 5-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2.

WindSync woodwind quintet 鈥 winners of the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition 鈥 , at the Mabry Concert Hall.
Austin Peay鈥檚 Dr. Spencer Prewitt will give a talk at 6 p.m. in Music/Mass Communication Room 147.
