Provost Lecture Series: Spanish professor Di Paolo to present March 20
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. 鈥 An Austin Peay State University Spanish professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.
Dr. Osvaldo Di Paolo, associate professor of Spanish, will present at 3 p.m., Thursday, March 20, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. The title of his lecture is 鈥湵繁鸩蛋吵倬背Υ: Vampires, Zombies and Detectives.鈥 He will discuss the convergence of hardboiled (novela negra in Spanish) and gothic literature. In these texts, terror, horror, fear and crime surface as constant aesthetical components of the narrative.

Di Paolo is an associate professor of Latin American cultural and literary studies. He has published numerous articles in peer-review journals and is the author of three books: Corpses in The Closet: Palimpsestic Detective Fiction in Contemporary Argentine Literature (Teseo, 2011), Apocalyptic and Posthuman Symptoms: Hispanic Hardboiled and Science Fiction of the 21st Century (Pliegos, 2013) and 狈别驳谤贸迟颈肠辞 (Pliegos, Forthcoming 2014).

The Provost Lecture Series seeks to foster a spirit of intellectual and scholarly inquiry among faculty, staff and students. The program will be used as a platform for APSU faculty members who are recent recipients of provost summer grants, who have been awarded faculty development leaves and who have engaged in recent scholarly inquiry during sabbatical leaves.
