APSU faculty and staff share professional and scholarly achievements
Three faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced publications or conferences attended as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Jill Franks, professor of languages and literature, had her book, titled 鈥淰oices of Irish and British Women Writers: A Comparative Feminist Analysis,鈥 accepted for publication by McFarland and Company. It is scheduled for release in Spring 2013.
Guy Herr, instructor in the Army ROTC program, was promoted Nov. 6 from captain to major in the U.S. Army.

Connie Sanders, director of the Child Learning Center, presented at the Tennessee Association for the Education for Young Children State Conference on Oct. 11-12. The topics discussed were mathematics, science, literacy and art (block centers concept), as well as how to change a preschool playground to a safe green space without breaking the budget.
In addition, Sanders was the guest speaker at the Franklin Special School District on Oct. 19 in Williamson County. Topics discussed were the block center concepts of mathematics, science, literacy and art, expansion of the storybook to all interest areas, and benefits children should gain from sensory tables. All topics covered the Tennessee Early Learning Standards.
