APSU CECA hosts Soiree on Franklin on Nov. 20

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. 鈥 For the last several years, a group of forward-thinking Clarksville residents known as the Acuff Circle of Excellence has invested in this community鈥檚 cultural future. The organization, a patron society for the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, hopes to keep the area well stocked with gifted painters, actors, writers and musicians. To achieve this goal, the circle provides scholarships for talented students to hone their artistic skills at the University.

At 5 p.m. on Nov. 20, community members will see the fruits of this investment at the Circle鈥檚 Third Annual Soiree on Franklin event at F&M Bank. The theme of this year鈥檚 Soiree is 鈥淭he New Legacy,鈥 and it will feature performances by APSU theater and dance, visual arts, creative writing and music students.

鈥淲e want to illustrate the excellence of the work that our scholarship students are able to produce,鈥 Christopher Burawa, director of the center, said. 鈥淎nd we want to provide more opportunities. The Acuff Circle has decided to devote as a goal the development of membership, and a portion of those new funds will either be put into an existing scholarship fund or they鈥檒l create a new scholarship endowment.鈥

Tickets to the Soiree on Franklin are $35 for Acuff Circle members and $40 for non-members. For information on the Acuff Circle, contact the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts at 221-7876
