CCCA begins new season with Gloria Chien concert on Sept. 21

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Community Concert Association will kick off its 2012-13 season at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 21 with a performance by piano virtuoso Gloria Chien.

Richard Dyer of the Boston Glove praised Chien for “a wondrously rich palette of colors, which she mixes everything with dashing bravado and with an uncanny precision of calibration.â€

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Community Concert Association will kick off its 2012-13 season at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 21 with a performance by piano virtuoso Gloria Chien.

Chien will perform Bach-Busoni, Brahms, Scriabin and Chopin in the first half of the program. The Brahms clarinet trio will be featured after intermission, with APSU assistant professor of music Dr. Mingzhe Wang assisting on clarinet and Dr. Eli Lara, APSU assistant professor of music, on cello. 

The concert will be held in the Concert Hall in the Music/Mass Communication Building at Austin Peay State University. 

Upcoming CCCA performances include Brentano Quartet on Oct. 19, the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and Nashville Symphony Chorus on Nov. 11, Curtis Rayam, tenor, Donnie Ray Albert, baritone with Roland Carter at the piano on March 1 and jazz trumpeter Dominick Farinacci headlining the Mid-South Jazz Festival on April 6.
