APSU guitar professor Yates to perform free concert Sept. 27
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. 鈥 Internationally-renowned concert guitarist and Austin Peay State University professor of music Dr. Stanley Yates will present a recital of solo and chamber music at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall on the APSU campus.
His program will include solo guitar music by baroque composer Giuseppe Antonio Brescianello, Czech composer Stepan Rak and Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell de Aquino.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. 鈥 Internationally-renowned concert guitarist and Austin Peay State University professor of music Dr. Stanley Yates will present a recital of solo and chamber music at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall on the APSU campus.
His program will include solo guitar music by baroque composer Giuseppe Antonio Brescianello, Czech composer Stepan Rak and Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell de Aquino.
The concert will also include the first modern performance of a recently discovered early 19th century adaption for violin, viola and guitar of Mozart鈥檚 popular opera 鈥淭he Magic Flute,鈥 assisted by APSU violin professor Dr. Emily Hanna Crane and Nashville violist Michael O'Gieblyn.
Yates鈥 recent masterclass teaching and concert performances have included trips to Romania, Australia and Italy. He also recently visited Bangladesh, where his masterclasses, lectures and concert performances where among the first Western classical music events to be held there.
Admission to the Sept. 27 concert is free and open to the public.
