Several faculty and staff employees at Austin Peay State University recently attended conferences or had articles published, bringing pride to the University.

Several faculty and staff employees at Austin Peay State University recently attended conferences or had articles published, bringing pride to the University.

Dr. Margaret Deitrich, professor of teaching and learning, and Dr. Benita Bruster, assistant professor of teaching and learning, presented at the eighth literacy conference sponsored by the Reading Association of Guatemala and the International Reading Association held Feb. 22-26 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The topic focused on reading strategies to use with K-5 students; Deitrich and Bruster focused on 6-12 grades.

Dr. Chinyere Ogbonna-McGruder, associate professor of public management and criminal justice, presented a paper at the Intellectbase International Consortium Academic Conference held March 7-10 in Phuket, Thailand. The title of her paper is “Effects on TennCare on Tennessee hospitals.” The article also was published in the International Handbook of Academic research and Teaching, Proceedings of Intellectbase International Consortium, 2011 Proceedings, Vol. 14.

Donna Price, director of the Office of Student Financial Aid, has been elected secretary for 2011-12 in the Tennessee Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (TASFAA), a state financial aid organization. She currently serves as the public four-year sector representative for TASFAA.

Dr. Mickey Wadia, professor of languages and literature, had an article published in the Tennessee Philological Bulletin, Vol. 47 (2010), issued February 2011. The title of the article is “Because the Wind is Pink: The Waiting Room as Epicenter of Physical and Spiritual Dysfunction in Ernest Gaines’s ‘The Sky is Gray’ and Flannery O’Connor’s ‘Revelation.’”
