Faculty members help put APSU on map through scholarly pursuits

Several faculty members at Austin Peay State University recently have brought recognition to the University through their professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Chinyere Ogbonna-McGruder, associate professor of public management and criminal justice and program manager of the criminal justice program, presented a paper, titled 鈥淚ncarcerated Women Drug Offenders in Tennessee: A research study,鈥 at the Intellectbase International Consortium Academic Conference from Oct. 14-16 in Atlanta, Ga. The paper also has been published in the International Handbook of Academic Research and Teaching.
Philenese Slaughter, assistant professor and instructional services coordinator in Woodward Library, presented 鈥淲hat鈥檚 in a name? When the name changes from state to state鈥 on Sept. 26 at the 2010 Southeastern Library Association Conference in Little Rock, Ark.
In addition, Slaughter was part of the Woodward Library Instructional Services Team 鈥 with members Sharon Johnson, Nancy Gibson, Inga Filippo and Christina Chester-Fangman 鈥 to receive the 2010 TEL Trainer of the Year award for the team鈥檚 Tennessee Electronic Library outreach training program. The award was presented to the team at the 2010 TENN SHARE Conference on Oct. 29 in Nashville.
Slaughter also partnered with Dr. Barbara Peterson, assistant professor and coordinator of clinical teaching in the College of Education, to present 鈥淭ennessee Electronic Library (TEL): A Tool for Curriculum Enhancement鈥 at the 57th annual conference of the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators on Oct. 30 in Nashville.
