Dr. Victoria McCarthy, assistant professor in the department of professional studies, and Dr. Becky J. Starnes, associate professor in the department of the public management and criminal justice, spoke at the Tennessee County Professional Development Conference held Nov. 3. McCarthy's presentation was titled 鈥淏oomers, Busters and Bridgers, 鈥極h My!鈥 The Land of Oz and Generational Diversity in the Workplace.鈥 Starnes' presentation was titled 鈥淚ncreasing County Volunteer Satisfaction to Increase Retention.鈥
Chris Burawa, director of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, had his translation from the Icelandic of the short story, 鈥淗oles in People,鈥 by Krist铆n Eir铆ksd贸ttir, accepted for inclusion in the Best European Fiction 2011 (Dalkey Archive Press), edited by Aleksandar Hemon.
