APSU to have 1st Run@Work Day Sept. 17
Nearly a hundred faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University will put on their walking and running shoes later this week to take part in the University’s first Run@Work Day.
The inaugural Run@Work Day at APSU, sponsored by University Recreation, will be from noon-12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17 outside the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center. The event is designed more for faculty and staff because it is "run at work," but APSU students also are welcome to walk and run at the event.

The local event coincides with the National Run@Work Day, held the third Friday of every September and sponsored by the Road Runners Club of America. The event, which started nationally five years ago, encourages people to incorporate at least 30 minutes of walking or running into their daily lives.
The APSU event will be a run/walk around the perimeter of the campus. The run/walk will start at the Foy Center, travel right on Marion Street, turn left onto Drane Street, then left onto College Street, another left onto Eighth Street and back to the starting point. It equals 1.14 miles, with many walkers/runners most likely able to complete two loops during the event.
Participants will receive T-shirts, and door prizes will be given.
