APSU celebrates 10 years of Bread and Words Nov. 23
The department of languages and literature will host its 10th annual Bread and Words benefit Tuesday, Nov. 23, in the UC Ballroom.The event has been held for the past 10 years as a way to help feed the hungry in our community, says Susan Wallace, editorial assistant for Zone 3, APSUs literary magazine. In the past few years, we have had about 100 people attend, and we have raised in the vicinity of $600芒鈧渁ll of which has gone to the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen and food pantry here in Clarksville. Members and friends of the department will prepare the pots of soup and loaves of bread to be served at 6:30 p.m. The benefit prose and poetry reading will begin at 7:30 p.m.
This year's readers are Acuff Chair Michael Blumenthal, Barry Kitterman, professor of creative writing, and APSU creative writing students Alicia Casey Baum, Eileen O'Grady and Benjamin Scott.
Guests are asked to donate $5 at the door. Guitarist Chuck Emery will provide music.
