APSU art students win eight STAR awards, including Best of Show
Four students in Austin Peays art department were honored with Student Talent Advertising Recognition (STAR) Awards during a reception Feb. 19 at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Nashville.This years competition, which was sponsored by the Nashville Advertising Federation (NAF), boasted a record 320 entries, according to Carole W. Young, senior designer for White, Thompson, Cunningham & Regen, Nashville. The categories ranged from illustration to menu, book jacket, public service advertisement and Web site design.

Caroline Head took home Best of Show for her album/CD cover art for 鈥淧eter and the Wolf.鈥 She received a cash prize of $150 from NAF and also picked up a Gold STAR Award in the album/CD cover category.
Ranop Subhawong was recognized as Best Photographer with the Special Directors STAR Cash Award of $50 for his piece, 鈥淣ew York City triptych.鈥
Subhawong also won a Gold STAR Award in black and white photography for 鈥淣ew York City triptych鈥 and swept the Web Site Design category with the Gold STAR Award for 鈥淩anop Subhawong Design鈥 and Silver STAR Award for 鈥淩ediscovering Home Land.鈥
Allison Daniell won a Silver STAR Award in the potpourri category for 鈥淲here There Is Freedom.鈥
Mariam Hanna won a Silver STAR Award in the poster category for 鈥淚nherit the Wind.鈥
