APSU alum, postcard collector signs “Clarksville in Vintage Postcards” Sept. 14
The Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association will host a reception and book signing for an alumnus whose latest book, Clarksville in Vintage Postcards, is illustrated with more than 240 Clarksville postcard images.The reception and book signing for Clarksvillian Billyfrank Morrison is slated for 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the Pace Alumni Center at Emerald Hill. It is free and open to the public.
The Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association will host a reception and book signing for an alumnus whose latest book, “Clarksville in Vintage Postcards,” is illustrated with more than 240 Clarksville postcard images.
The reception and book signing for Clarksvillian Billyfrank Morrison is slated for 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the Pace Alumni Center at Emerald Hill. It is free and open to the public.
Morrison, who has collected old postcards for more than 30 years, has amassed a collection of more than 200,000 cards. His collection has been featured in “Tennessee Magazine” and on Nashville Public Television's “Tennessee Crossroads.”
The cards featured in “Clarksville in Vintage Postcards” span more than 100 years, from the late 1800s to 2004. Each card is accompanied by historical information and/or information gleaned from personal interviews.
A Jasper native, Morrison served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 -1977. He embarked on a second career in 1981 with the Department of Army as a radiation protection officer and accident investigator. He later served as safety manager/accident investigator, retiring in 2001.
During the Sept. 14 reception, “Clarksville in Vintage Postcards” will be available for purchase and signing.
