Effective March 1, a graduate of Austin Peay State University was appointed development officer in the Office of University Advancement.
Clarksville resident Heather Legg, who graduated in 1999, joins Roy Gregory, executive director, as well as Sharon Silva and Rip Watts, development officers, and Shelia Boone, director of alumni and annual giving, as APSU moves toward the launch of its first capital campaign.
Legg graduated from APSU, magna cum laude, with a major in communication arts and a minor in corporate communication. The recipient of Presidential and Academic scholarships, she was tapped to Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Alpha Epsilon Rho National Broadcasting Society. She also was listed in 鈥淲ho's Who Among American colleges and Universities.鈥
Beginning in March 2000, she moved rapidly up the career ladder with SunCom, from a position as the first retail sales associate hired to launch SunCom in the Clarksville area to account executive to retail store manager and, finally, indirect account executive.
She was named to the 鈥淐entury Club鈥 for selling more than 100 units in one month and to SunCom's 鈥淐ircle of Excellence鈥 for her sales performance.
Before working at SunCom, she was a writer, reporter, anchor and producer for WKAG/TV 43, Hopkinsville, and an on-air personality and writer for WDBL-AM/FM in Springfield.
鈥淗eather has the potential to make a wonderful contribution to Austin Peay's fundraising efforts,鈥 Gregory said. 鈥淚t's no secret that, with decreasing state funding for higher education, private support is critical, especially for smaller universities like Austin Peay.
鈥淗eather's success in sales speaks for itself. She's a go-getter, and we're happy to have her on our team.鈥
