Acuff Chair Blumenthal presents poetry reading Sept. 29

The author of six books of poetry, Blumenthal's most recent, 鈥淒usty Angel,鈥 received the Isabella Gardner Prize. The recipient of a Fulbright, a Guggenheim, a Rockefeller/Bellagio and other prizes, Blumenthal has been widely published in such journals as The Paris Review, The Nation and Poetry, as well as anthologized in 鈥淭he Norton Anthology of Modern Poetry,鈥 鈥淭he Harvard Anthology of Contemporary American Poetry鈥 and 鈥淭he Pushcart Prize Anthology.鈥 His novel, 鈥淲einstock Among the Dying,鈥 won the 1994 Harold U. Ribalow Prize for Fiction.
Blumenthal most recently served as Distinguished Visiting Professor of American Literature at the Universit茅 Jean-Monnet and Lecturer in Creative Non-Fiction at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris. He was director of the Creative Writing Program at Harvard University from 1988-93.

Blumenthal writes in a style that is pure, simple, utterly accessible, loving, lyrical and full of emotion.鈥
