13 faculty members are top academic advisers
During the annual Academic Honors and Awards Day ceremony yesterday at Austin Peay State University, 13 faculty members were recognized as outstanding academic advisers.From the College of Arts and Letters, advisers honored were Dr. Michele Butts, professor of history; Billy Renkl, professor of art; and Dr. Cynthia McWilliams, associate professor of languages and literature.
During the annual Academic Honors and Awards Day ceremony yesterday at Austin Peay State University, 13 faculty members were recognized as outstanding academic advisers.
From the College of Arts and Letters, advisers honored were Dr. Michele Butts, professor of history; Billy Renkl, professor of art; and Dr. Cynthia McWilliams, associate professor of languages and literature.
In the College of Professional Programs and Social Sciences, faculty members awarded the distinction were Dr. Nanci Woods, professor of psychology; Dr. Marcy Maurer, professor of health and human performance; and Dr. Jerry Plummer, associate professor in the School of Business.
From the College of Science and Mathematics, outstanding academic advisers are Dr. Cindy Taylor, associate professor of biology; Sallie Noel, associate professor of biology; Dr. Mary Lou Witherspoon, professor of mathematics; and Dr. Carrie Brennan, associate professor of chemistry.
Academic advisers recognized from the Austin Peay Center @ Fort Campbell are Dr. John Blake, who teaches engineering technology; Dr. James Prescott, associate professor of public management; and Dr. Robyn Hulsart, assistant professor of professional studies.
The effort to honor outstanding academic advisers from APSU's colleges stems from the University's focus to improve retention rates.
