116 Austin Peay student-athletes named to Athletics Director's honor roll

Austin Peay's athletic department must wait to see if it will successfully defend its 2002-2003 Ohio Valley Conference Academic Achievement Award. However, the University's student-athletes have put the program in a good position by posting a record-breaking academic semester during the spring.
Forty-five percent of Austin Peay's student-athletes earned Athletics Director's Honor Roll recognition, posting a 3.0 or better grade-point average during the recently completed Fall 2003 semester.
Last spring, 116 of the department's 258 student-athletes earned a spot on the honor roll, setting a school record in the process. The previous mark of 109 was set during the Fall 2002 semester.
Four of the department's 17 teams posted a 3.0 GPA or better for the semester. The women's rifle squad led the way with all seven members earning honor roll recognition and the team posting a 3.454 GPA. The other five teams were: women's volleyball (3.409), women's soccer (3.246) and men's cross country (3.191). The entire athletic department posted a 2.816 GPA during the spring semester.
